Man Jailed For Seven Years For Fatal Teynham Collision

A dangerous and unlicensed driver, who caused the deaths of two men in a New Year's Day collision on Friday 1st January this year (2016), has been jailed for seven years.

One other passenger in Ashley Howard's car suffered serious injuries when it crashed into the Jubilee Pump monument and overturned in a garden off London Road, Teynham, in the early hours of the first day of 2016.

Howard, 23, of Quarry View on the Isle of Wight, spent more than two months in hospital himself following the collision.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help find a missing teenager from the Rochester area.

Officers are concerned for the welfare of 18-year-old Ben Savage, after he disappeared following an evening out. He was last seen at 2.45am on Tuesday (6th December) in Railway Street, Chatham.

Officers investigating a serious collision in Sittingbourne are appealing for witnesses.

The incident happened in Staplehurst Road at about 3.45pm on Friday (18th November) afternoon.

A four-year-old boy was taken to a London hospital after the car he was travelling in - a silver Citroen Xsara Picasso - was involved in a collision with a brick wall.

His condition is currently described as serious but stable.

Two other children in the car were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Burglary And Theft Of Bikes In Sittingbourne

Kent Police are investigating a reported burglary in Sittingbourne over the weekend.

Between midnight and 7.30am on Sunday (30th October) it was alleged that two bicycles were stolen from a garden shed in Rock Road by forcing it's door lock.

A red and grey Bianchi Intenso road bike with a chrome bottom bracket and a Carrera bike were reported stolen.

The garden may have been entered using a rear alleyway that leads onto Burley Road.

Kent Police are holding a two-week amnesty on unlicensed or unwanted firearms, imitation weapons and ammunition, to get them out of circulation.

The amnesty will run from 8.00am on Monday 31st October until 5.00pm on Friday 11 November at Police Stations across the county, including Sittingbourne Police Station on Central Avenue.

Street Robbery Reported In Ufton Lane

Kent Police are investigating a report of a robbery at Ufton Lane, Sittingbourne.

It is reported that around 9pm on Friday (7th October), a woman in her 30s was getting out of her car when a man threatened her demanding money.

It is reported that a quantity of cash was stolen.

The man is described as 5ft 8ins to 5ft 11ins with a foreign accent and wearing a dark hooded top with the hood pulled up, and a cream scarf across his face.

It is reported that he ran off towards Manor Grove.

Sittingbourne Rape Incident - Man Charged

Kent Police officers, investigating a rape in Sittingbourne last weekend, have charged a 32-year-old local man.

George Orwa, of Agate Court on The Meads, was charged with rape on Saturday (20th August) and appeared before Medway Magistrates Court earlier today (Monday 22nd August).

His charge follows an incident where a woman reported being raped near a church on Sittingbourne High Street between 1.28am and 1.58am on Sunday 14th August.

Orwa was remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 19th September.

Man Bailed After Sheerness Stabbing

A man, arrested in connection with an alleged stabbing in Sheerness High Street, has been released on bail while police enquiries continue.

Kent Police were called at 3.32am yesterday (Thursday 18th August) morning to a report of an assault between Maple Street and Halfway Road on the Isle Of Sheppey.

Officers attended along with ambulance staff and a man in his 20's was taken to King's College Hospital in South East London, where he remains in a serious but stable condition, having suffered an injury consistent with a stab wound.

Police Appeal After Teenage Girl Found Unconscious

Kent Police are investigating an incident in which a teenage girl was found lying unconscious on the side of the road and are appealing for any information.

The 14-year-old was discovered by members of the public near the Western Link roundabout in Faversham, at about 12.40am on Tuesday 19th July.

She was not seriously injured but has no memory of how she came to be unconscious.

It has been reported that a sexual offence may have been committed against her.
