Two Charged And Drugs Seized Following Burglary

Around 70 cannabis plants have been seized and two men have been charged after officers were called to a burglary in Sittingbourne.

Patrols attended Charlotte Street during the early hours of  yesterday (Thursday 29th June) following reports of a break-in at a residential address.

One man was arrested at the scene whilst officers chased another on foot through several gardens and over fences before a second man was detained. It is alleged that during the incident a suspect was running along roof tops and caused damage to tiles.

Two Arrested In Connection With Lorry Fuel Thefts

Two men, suspected of stealing fuel from lorries, were arrested following quick work from a Kent Police dog and officers.

At around 3.45am on Monday (13th March) morning officers travelling on the A249 Maidstone-bound near Bobbing noticed a car parked close behind an HGV in a lay-by.

Two men then fled the scene as the patrol vehicle approached, with Police Dog Ciara and her handler called to assist in a search across fields.

Both suspects, one aged 30 and the other 21, were located shortly afterwards, arrested and later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Two Arrested During Vehicle Checks In Swale

Joint working by Kent Police's Rural Task Force and Road Safety Unit in Swale saw one arrest for drug driving and two arrested for theft offences.

On Monday (9th May) the two teams, along with the DVSA and Environment Agency, spent the day on the A249 on the Isle of Sheppey and in Mill Way, Sittingbourne checking vehicles carrying all types of waste.

In total, 25 vehicles were inspected with waste carriers’ licenses and documentation checked.

Arrests Following Attempted Theft Of Cabling

Two men are in custody having been arrested on suspicion of attempting to steal cabling.

At around 2.35am yesterdat (Thursday 23rd December) Kent Police were notified that an alarm at an industrial site in Water Lane, Faversham, had been activated.

As a Kent Police patrol travelled towards the scene, they noticed a van being driven in the general vicinity. The van was travelling in the opposite direction and is reported to have accelerated when the constables turned their patrol car around.

Two Arrests After 'Bin Men' High Street Brawl

A disturbance in Chatham High Street has led to two men being arrested, one of which is from the Sittingbourne area.

Last Wednesday (4th August) investigating officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Sittingbourne on suspicion of affray. He was additionally arrested for two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

A second man, aged 28 and from the Gillingham area, was arrested on suspicion of affray on Thursday 5th August.

Swale Borough Council’s stray dog service has been highlighted as one of the best in the country by the RSPCA for the eleventh year in a row.

The service has been awarded the Gold Pawprint Award, which recognises good practice in animal welfare by local authorities in England and Wales. Alongside this award, the council has also been awarded the Gold Pawprint Award for Contingency Planning for the fourth year in a row.

Two men have been jailed after investigators found photographs of stolen property on their mobile phones that proved they were responsible for a spate of thefts across west Kent and Sittingbourne.

Darren Mills (left) and William Adams (right) conspired to steal vehicles, trailers and plant machinery between Sunday 1st December 2019 and Tuesday 18th February 2020.

Two Arrested Following 'Mass Gathering'

Two people have been arrested and enquiries are ongoing following a 'mass gathering' in Sittingbourne.

Approximately 150 people attended a funeral at the Garden of England Crematorium on Sheppey Way in Bobbing on Thursday (16th April) resulting in concerns about social distancing during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Kent Police say that they "received notification of the funeral the evening before it was due to take place" and was therefore unable to speak to those attending to encourage them to adhere to social distancing measures.

Two People Rescued From Flood Water In Iwade

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a vehicle containing two people stranded in flood water on Raspberry Hill Lane in Iwade earlier today.

Two fire engines and a water safety unit were sent to the scene at approximately 13:30hrs and, when crews arrived, one occupant had climbed onto the roof of the vehicle. Firefighters in dry suits entered the water to rescue the two people and lead them to safety, before passing them into the care of South East Coast Ambulance (SECAmb) paramedics. The public are currently being advised to avoid the road due to flooding.

Man Arrested After Two Stabbed In West Street

Kent Police have confirmed that a man was arrested after two people were stabbed in Sittingbourne last night (Monday 26th August).

Police say they were called to a disturbance in West Street at around 9.14pm.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening and a man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
