106.9 SFM, your local Community Radio station, would not be able to broadcast without the amazing people who give up their free time to come in and volunteer on a regular basis. We are a community radio station run completely by it's volunteers, which means that we are always looking for new members from our local community (here in Sittingbourne) to join our exciting and enthusiastic team.
In return we offer excellent opportunities for any budding radio presenters, or for people who already have some experience of working in the broadcasting industry and would just like to give something back to their local community by working in the office or in a support environment.
The station broadcasts a range of music and programmes 24 hours-a-day, with a distinct local flavour that represents interests of all sections of our local community here in Sittingbourne and we want our volunteers to reflect that. Applications are therefore welcomed from anybody (*over the age of 18) who lives in the local area and can commit to giving up some of their free time to #TeamSFM, to help run our 24/7 service for the local community.
Please note Volunteering Events happen several times a year and you may be invited to an event where a number of people who have applied will be seen all at the same time. There may be a delay in replying to your application on this basis. The team are very busy and do try to get back to everyone as quickly as possible - please bear with us and remember it may well be a volunteer that will be dealing with your applcation too.
The skills that can be gained by volunteering at 106.9 SFM include (but are not limited to):
• Organisation and administration skills
• Marketing
• Digital marketing and media
• Team working
• Interpersonal skills
• Editing skills
• Radio Scripting
