A motorist, who fatally struck a cyclist before fleeing the scene, has been jailed for 12 and a half years.

Danny Gibson, 38, was sentenced after admitting to causing a fatal collision on The Street in Wormshill, on Tuesday 18th October 2022.

Gibson had spent the afternoon drinking in Sheerness before taking his mother’s car without permission. He then drove through Wormshill and surrounding areas before he collided with the victim, who was cycling near his home. Gibson abandoned the vehicle in a nearby field and left the scene on foot.

Women who were sexually assaulted in Medway and Swale, by a man who falsely advertised as a professional masseur, have seen the offender jailed.

A prolific criminal has been jailed following multiple thefts and driving offences in Swale.

Darren Regan started his crime spree in the early hours of Monday 29th January 2024. He gained entry to two vehicles at addresses near Sheerness and stole a pair of binoculars from one of them. A short time later he was stopped by a patrol and the constables found the binoculars hidden in his coat sleeve. Regan was arrested and later charged with theft and interfering with a vehicle.

A prolific Swale shoplifter has been jailed and will be subject to a strict criminal behaviour order preventing her entering a store with a bag that is not clear, on her release from prison.

A 19-year-old man who used a machete to fatally injure his mother’s partner has been jailed for 10 years.

In the early hours of Wednesday 21st December 2022, David Perry was violently assaulted by Rohan Daniels after the pair had argued over missing tobacco at the family home in Medway Close, Sittingbourne.

Following the incident, Daniels, who was 18 at the time, fled the property leaving his victim with multiple stab wounds. The emergency services were called to the house where Mr Perry, aged 40, was confirmed deceased.

A burglar, whose group caused thousands of pounds’ worth of damage during four hours of thefts and break-ins, has been jailed.

Liam Scott and two others stole a Land Rover from an address in Faversham shortly before 2am on Saturday 30th December 2023.

Around half an hour later, the same vehicle was driven into the clubhouse of a caravan park in Seasalter, Whitstable.

The victim of a violent and controlling man from Sittingbourne has seen him jailed.

During 2022, the woman was in a relationship with Nuno Rodrigues and suffered constant assaults at his hands. The abuse included an incident when Rodrigues forcefully pinned her to the ground whilst placing his hands around her neck. This prevented her from breathing and caused visible bruising.

A Sittingbourne shoplifter has been jailed within two days of her arrest.

Between Sunday 5th November and Sunday 19 November, Rebecca Lee targeted three stores in the town centre on five separate occasions. Meat, cleaning items and laundry products were stolen from Morrisons, Lidl in West Street and Asda in Mill Way. At the latter, Lee assaulted a member of staff as she sought to leave the premises without paying.
