Spate Of Bus Shelter Vandalism Plaguing Sittingbourne

A spate of bus shelter vandalism has caused damage throughout Sittingbourne in the past week.

Earlier this week a bus shelter was vandalised on Milton High Street and overnight (Friday 21st April) a number of bus shelters were attacked at the Sittingbourne Bus Hub, near The Forum Shopping Centre on St Michael's Road, in the centre of town.

Chalkwell To Take On 347 And 349 Bus Routes

Local Sittingbourne-based bus company, Chalkwell, have announced that they will be taking over two local bus routes from Arriva next month.

The two routes serve the Murston, Kemsley and Milton Regis areas with a service to and from the Sittingbourne Bus Hub in the centre of town.

Suspect Detained After Attempted Pharmacy Burglary

A suspected burglar has appeared at court following an attempted break-in at a pharmacy in Milton Regis.

At around 10.15pm on Monday (7th March), Kent Police received a report that a window had been damaged at the business on Milton Regis High Street. Officers went to the scene and then started a search of the area. At around 11.35pm, a patrol saw a suspicious vehicle and requested the driver to stop.

It is alleged the car did not stop and, following a pursuit, it came to a halt in Basser Hill, Lower Halstow, where the driver was arrested.

Appeal After Teenage Boy Assaulted In Sittingbourne

Kent Police are looking for information following a report that a teenage boy was assaulted in Milton Regis in late November.

Police confirmed today (Tuesday 29th December) that between 7.30pm and 8.00pm on Monday 30th November a group of up to 11 young people were reported to have assaulted the victim in Milton Recreation Ground. The boy was subsequently taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for facial injuries.

Large Blaze Being Tackled At Recycling Centre

Crews remain at the scene of a fire at an industrial premises on Gas Road in Milton Regis. 
 
The Kent Fire & Rescue Service (KFRS) told SFM News that: " steady progress is being made to extinguish the fire, with crews using hose reel jets to tackle the flames". 
 
People living and working in the Kemsley / Milton Regis area are being asked to keep their windows and doors closed, due to large amounts of smoke in the area.

Large Grass Fire In Gas Road Area

Kent Fire and Rescue Service have been called to a large fire involving around 100sq metres of grass and undergrowth in the Gas Road area.

It is believed that three fire engines have been sent to the scene and firefighters are using hose reel jets to tackle the blaze.

There is a large plume of smoke in the area and residents are being advised to close all their windows and doors to prevent the smoke from entering their properties as a precaution.

Car Hits House On North Street, Milton Regis

North Street, in Milton Regis, was closed earlier today (Tuesday 24th January) in both directions at the junction with Milton High Street and Vicarage Road, following an incident where a car hit a house on Hawkins Close.

A spokeswoman for Kent Police told SFM News "[we] called at around 9.00am this morning after it was reported that a car had been involved in a collision with a house. Police officers and Kent Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched to the scene in North Street, Milton Regis."

Milton Regis Suspicious Incident Prompts E-Fit

Detectives, investigating a report of a man acting suspiciously in the Milton Regis area several weeks ago, have issued an efit image of a man they would like to speak to.

It is reported that a 12-year-old girl was walking through the graveyard near Green Porch Close at around 7.10am on Tuesday 5th January when a man approached her and reached out towards her arm. The girl ran off.

The man is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, 6ft tall, of large build and had a beard. He was described as wearing a black hoodie, jogging bottoms and woolly hat.
