Three fire engines were at the scene of a fire in a three-storey building in Albion Terrace on Brewery Road in MIlton Regis earlier today (Friday 15th January).

Fire crews in breathing apparatus used two hose reels to put the fire out and special fans and natural ventilation to remove the smoke from the property and neighbouring properties.

The three people who were in the property at the time managed to get out to safety when their smoke alarms sounded.

The landmark building Milton Regis Court Hall will soon be opening its doors again following the signing of a new lease earlier this week.

The Friends of Milton Regis Court Hall (a registered charity) have taken over the building from Swale Borough Council and have already planned a series of Open Days at which much needed funds will hopefully be raised.

Sittingbourne has been badly affected by flooding, yet again, following a deluge in the past hour.

The worst affected areas appear to be around the bottom part of the High Street, East Street, Crown Quay Lane and both Mill Way and St Paul's Street in Milton Regis.

The Production Team staff at Milton Pipes Ltd, on Cooks Lane in Milton Regis, have been told at a meeting that their jobs are to go in the summer.

The previously family-owned company became part of the CPM Group in 2010. It is believed that production will be absorbed by CPM's other sites in Yorkshire and Somerset.
