Avenue of Remembrance Appleyard On The Market

Following it's closure in mid-November The Appleyard, formerly The UK Paper Leisure Club, on the Avenue of Remembrance is up for sale.

At the time of closure the business was believed to be £250,000 in debt and members were told that despite being run as a trust for the last 108 years they would be responsible for any debts if it were not sold going forward.

A statement issued at the time said that "the sports pitches off Gore Court Road will remain usable until the site is sold but all buildings will be closed” and that site has not been put up for sale as yet, just the Avenue of Remembrance site.

It's believed that a number of events due to be held at the Avenue of Remembrance site have now transferred to The Holiday Inn (Coniston Hotel) on London Road.
