Crews Tackle Grass Fire in Iwade

People around the Raspberry Hill Lane area in Iwade were being advised to keep windows and doors closed earlier today (Tuesday 3rd June).

The earlier advice was issued due to a large amount of smoke coming from a grass fire, which crews believed was caused accidentally after embers spread from an out-of-control bonfire.

The Kent Fire & Rescue Service (KFRS) were called at 11:37am and three fire engines attended, as well as an all-terrain vehicle. Firefighters used beaters and portable water tanks to extinguish the flames and no injuries were reported.

The Kent Fire & Rescue Service (KFRS) were advising people in the Milton Regis area to keep all windows and doors closed on Saturday (31st May) afternoon, due to heavy smoke coming from a derelict house fire on Roberts Close. 

The KFRS were called at 3:35pm following reports of a blaze on the residential street.

Six fire engines attended the scene and crews, wearing breathing apparatus and using main jets to extinguish the flames until just after 4.10am in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Car Fire Closes M2 Motorway

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a crash involving one vehicle, which then set alight, on the M2 between junctions 5 and 6 coastbound at around 9.06pm this evening (Saturday 10th May).

Four fire engines attended and on arrival saw that everyone was out of the vehicle.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using hose reel jets.

SECAmb were also in attendance.

The motorway was closed in both directions during the incident and road was re-opened at around 10:30pm.

Early Morning Paper Mill Fire At Kemsley

Kent Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that they were called at 5.31am this morning (Friday 7th March) to reports of a fire at a paper mill in Kemsley.  

It's believed that at the height of the fire six fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used main jets to put out the flames.

There were no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known.

Bedroom Fire Tackled In Murston

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called last  night (Monday 30th December) at 7.50pm to reports of a bedroom fire at a house in Wild Ash Croft in Murston, Sittingbourne. 

Four fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

One person was passed into the care of SECAmb paramedics. 

The cause is not yet known, but is being investigated.

Blaze Sweeps Through The Former Kemsley Arms

Last night (Sunday 21st January) Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire at a derelict pub.

Five fire engines and a height vehicle responded, and crews tackled a fire on the first floor of the former Kemsley Arms Public House on Ridham Avenue.

There were no reported injuries, and the cause is not yet known.

Kent Police also attended and have confirmed to SFM News that “the fire is being treated as suspicious.”

Flat Fire In Sittingbourne

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called, at around 5:00pm, to reports of a fire at a flat yesterday (Thursday 11th January) evening.

Two fire engines attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the flames at the residential property on Caithorpe Close on the Regent Quay development.

Firefighters also used a high-pressured fan to clear the property of smoke. 

The cause is not yet known.

Kitchen Fire In Kemsley

A pan of oil sparked a kitchen fire at a home in Kemsley earlier this afternoon (Monday 7th August) after it accidentally overheated and caught alight. 

Two fire engines were sent to the house in Recreation Way, where crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. 

One person was checked over as a precaution for a slight burn to their hand.

Kent Fire & rescue (KFRS) are reminding poeple to always take extra care in the kitchen and make sure that they go not get distracted when they’re cooking or to leave it unattended.

Domestic Garage Fire In Sittingbourne

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) were sent to the scene of a garage fire on Helen Thompson Close in Iwade, Sittingbourne in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 17th December).

Four fire engines were sent to the scene after the KFRS were called shortly after 4.20am and crews arrived to a fire spreading from a garage to the roof of an adjoining property.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used main jets, hose reel jets and water from a local hydrant to extinguish the blaze.

No casualties were reported, and the cause has not been confirmed.

Crews Tackle Sittingbourne Bedroom Blaze

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) are issuing important electrical safety advice following a property fire in Sittingbourne.

Three fire engines were sent to the incident on Westmoreland Drive earlier today (Saturday 9th April) and crews arrived to flames from an upstairs bedroom.
