CCTV Image Released Of Missing Man

New CCTV has been released by officers today (Tuesday 26th November) who are continuing to search for a man who was last seen in Sittingbourne one week ago.

Peter Henderson, 65, was last seen in the Pear Tree Walk area of Newington at 12.17am last Tuesday (19th November).

Following enquiries officers have released a CCTV image of Peter, which was captured in Pear Tree Walk and shows him heading north west towards Orchard Drive.

Closure Order Granted Following Disturbance

A house in Newington has been subject to a partial closure order after it was linked to a disturbance.

The 28-day order was granted at Medway Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday (8th November) after Kent Police applied to the court for the partial closure of the house in Church Lane.

Under Section 80 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, the order prevents anyone from visiting or being inside the property, other than the landlord or the tenant, during that period, or else risk a custodial sentence or an unlimited fine.

Landslip Near Newington To Affect Train Services

Train services between Sittingbourne and Rainham will be stopped from 9pm tonight as Southeastern carries out emergency repair work following a landslip on an embankment in the Newington area.

A number of other trains will also be affected, including the high speed service which will now operate between St Pancreas and Rainham. London Victoria services will only run between Gillingham and London Victoria and services from Ramsgate and Dover Priory will terminate and start back from Sittingbourne.

Major Gas Leak Closes A2 At Newington

Kent Police have had to closed the A2 at Newington due to a 'major' gas leak.

The road closure comes just a day after residents received a letter saying that months of roadworks along that stretch of road were finally finished and that the area would be 'getting back to normal'.

London Road is currently CLOSED between Playstool Road and Bull Lane, causing lengthy tailbacks on to Keycol Hill (coming from Sittingbourne) and back to Hartlip (coming from the Medway towns).

Storm Ciara has caused problems in the Sittingbourne area this morning (Sunday 9th February).

Train services on South Eastern were suspended between Sittingbourne and Faversham earlier due to a tree blocking the line near Teynham (pictured). A seperate incident, with a points failure at Newington, also added to train travellers woes with all London-bound services calling at Newington to allow affected passengers to get off at the station. South Eastern advised people on Twitter: ""we strongly advise you do not travel today."

Teenager Jailed For Killing Friend In Collision

A teenager who killed his friend while speeding in a pickup truck has been jailed for four years.

Kieran Simpson, 18, of Gladwyn Road, Rainham, was jailed on Friday (16th March) by a judge at Maidstone Crown Court.

He was sentenced to four years in jail after pleading guilty to one count of causing death by dangerous driving after his friend died in a collision on the A2 on London Road in Newington.

Witnesses Sought Following Fatal Collision

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision near Sittingbourne.

At 9.55pm last night (Thursday 18th May), a white Mitsubishi L200 truck travelling on the A2 London Road in Newington was in collision with a parked unattended vehicle and a boundary wall near to the junction of Playstool Road.

One of the passengers of the truck, a 17-year-old boy from Medway, died at the scene.

Three other people suffered injuries and were taken to hospital.
