Motorcyclist Jailed For Fatally Injuring Teenager

A motorcyclist who fatally injured a teenager has been jailed for five years and three months.

Robert Varrier, 29, of Limehouse Court, Sittingbourne, dangerously drove an off-road motorcycle on a residential street on Thursday 16th April before he colliding with a 17-year-old boy.

The teenager was attending a funeral and walking along Tonge Road, Sittingbourne, when he was hit by the vehicle at around 10.42am. He sustained serious head injuries and was flown to a London hospital where he died 3 days later on 19th April.

A teenager who killed his friend while speeding in a pickup truck has been jailed for four years.

Kieran Simpson, 18, of Gladwyn Road, Rainham, was jailed on Friday (16th March) by a judge at Maidstone Crown Court.

He was sentenced to four years in jail after pleading guilty to one count of causing death by dangerous driving after his friend died in a collision on the A2 on London Road in Newington.

Billy Lee, aged 18 and of Quinton Roa in Sittingbourne, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court last Wednesday (14th October) to serve a total of six years, three months and two weeks in a young offenders' institute after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm and being found guilty of actual bodily harm.

Teenager Charged After Laser Shone At Helicopter

A teenager has been charged after a laser was shone at the police helicopter in Sittingbourne.

At about 10.30pm on Wednesday (17th April) the helicopter was assisting officers searching on the ground for two men seen acting suspiciously in Gas Road, Milton Regis, when a laser was shone at the aircraft.

19-year-old William Henry Rye, of Tonge Road in Sittingbourne, has been charged with recklessly/negligently acting in manner likely to endanger an aircraft/person in an aircraft.
