Ex-Sittingbourne Man Jailed For High Value Theft

A man who attempted to steal millions of pounds from a Swanley cash depot and computer chips from a consignment at Heathrow Airport has been jailed for a total of 11 years and three months.

38 years-old Karl Delaney, formerly of Sittingbourne, was part of a group of offenders who targeted the Loomis Cash Depot in Mark Way, Swanley, on Friday 23rd March 2012.

Kent Police Appeal For Witnesses To M20 Crash

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision on the M20 near Maidstone shortly afer 5am on Sunday (6th December) morning.

A red Nissan Qashqai was driving along the Junction 7 (A249) slip-on road of the London-bound M20 when the vehicle was involved in a collision with a red Mercedes articulated lorry.  The driver of the Nissan, a 74-year-old woman from Maidstone, died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

A 39-year-old man from the Czech Republic was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Swale Detectives, investigating a violent robbery in Queenborough, have issued an e-fit image of a man they want to speak to.

Police were called on Wednesday 28th October following reports that three men had smashed their way into a caravan, located inside Argent Business Park, off Argent Road. The incident occurred between 1am and 2am.

Swale Detectives have charged two men in connection with alleged distraction burglaries in the local area.

Police made two separate arrests after receiving reports that people had tricked their way into homes to steal items. The first arrest was made after officers responded to an incident in Foxley Road, Sittingbourne at around 2.35pm, on Friday 23rd October. Joseph Smith, aged 34, of Lucks Lane, Chart Sutton, was charged with two counts of burglary and an attempted burglary with intent to steal.

Teenager Jailed For Attack At Party

A teenager who injured two people attending a birthday party in Sittingbourne has been jailed for more than six years.

Billy Lee, aged 18 and of Quinton Roa in Sittingbourne, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court last Wednesday (14th October) to serve a total of six years, three months and two weeks in a young offenders' institute after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm and being found guilty of actual bodily harm.

Kent Police are appealing for information to locate a man who went missing from Maidstone Magistrates Court earlier today (Tuesday, 22nd September).

42-year-old Daniel Paul Murray, who has connections to Swale, Ashford and Dartford, absconded from Maidstone Magistrates Court.

Police were contacted at 11.50am after security guards based at the court were unable to locate him.

Last week, between Monday 3rd and Sunday 9th of August, a newly installed Defibrillator was stolen from a Kent Fire and Rescue vehicle at the Sittingbourne Fire Station on St Michaels Road.

Appeal After Keycol Hill Rush Hour Accident

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on Keycol Hill during yesterday (29th July) afternoon's rush hour.

A man riding a blue bicycle was involved in a collision with a white lorry on the A2 Key Street roundabout at the bottom of Keycol Hill at around 3.45pm.

The cyclist was flown by the Kent Air Ambulance to a London hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Sheppey Crossing Speed Limit Lowered To 50mph

The speed limit on the Sheppey Crossing was lowered from 70mph to 50mph from 10.00am this morning (Wednesday 22nd July).

The "emergency" speed cut follows a pre-inquest review in to the deaths of Deborah Roberts and her 8-year-old son Marshall on the crossing last July.

Mid Kent and Medway Coroner, Patricia Harding wrote to Highways England urging them to take immediate action.
