Sittingbourne Robbery Suspect In Court

A suspect has been detained by neighbourhood officers following reports of a robbery and theft in Sittingbourne.

On Saturday 16th December 2023, a man was walking in the High Street when he was allegedly threatened by a man he did not know. The victim handed over a quantity of cash and later alerted the police.

Later the same day, meat valued at more than £40 was reportedly stolen from the Co-op in Gadby Road. On Thursday 28th December, constables from the town’s community safety unit were on patrol in the High Street area when they arrested a man.

Officers are appealing for information after a man was charged over a robbery and collision in Sittingbourne.

At around 4.50pm last Saturday (11th December), a man was reportedly robbed of his car in London Road before it was involved in a two-vehicle collision.

No serious injuries were reported in the first collision, following which another attempted robbery was reported of another car nearby.

John Brazil has since been charged with robbery, attempted robbery, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and dangerous driving in relation to the incident.

Local detectives have issued an appeal for information following a report of a robbery in Sittingbourne.

At around 7:00pm on Saturday 16th January, three men entered a shop in St John’s Avenue where two shop assistants were working.

It is alleged one of the men, who was holding a bladed weapon, threatened a staff member while the other two suspects stole a quantity of tobacco. The second shop assistant is reported to have been assaulted and the men then stole cash and some bottles of alcohol before leaving the premises.

Kent Police detectives are appealing for witnesses after a handbag was reported stolen during a robbery in Sittingbourne at the weekend.

The incident is reported to have taken place in Pembury Street shortly after 9pm on Sunday (17th March).

Detective Constable Rob Feasey told SFM News: "The victim, a woman in her 40s, was by her parked car when a man asked her for the time and grabbed her handbag. During a short struggle she fell to the floor, suffering cuts to her knee, elbow and hands".

Officers investigating a report of a robbery in Sittingbourne are appealing for witnesses.

The incident was reported to have happened in a playing field in Rectory Road, Sittingbourne, between 11pm and 11.15pm last Friday (5th October).

The victim was walking home and took a short cut through down Rectory Park and through the park. As he walked through the park a group of people started shouting at him and walking towards him.

Kent Police officers, investigating a report that a robbery took place at a shop in Sittingbourne, have today released a CCTV image of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The incident took place in St John's Avenue at around 9.50pm on Monday 4th June and a quantity of cash and cigarettes is reported to have been stolen.

No one sustained any injuries and, following enquiries, officers have identified a man who they would like to speak with.

Man Charged With Robbery In Sittingbourne

Detectives investigating three robberies in Sittingbourne have charged a 24-year-old man in connection with one of the incidents.

Lawrence Heathfield, aged 24 and of Crown Quay Lane, Sittingbourne, has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The robbery relates to an incident in Bell Road just after midnight on Saturday 21st October where the victim, aged 21, reported being robbed of his phone and wallet by two men as he was walking home from a night out.

Kent Police officers, investigating a robbery at a newsagents, have released an image of a man who they would like to identify.

Kent Police were called at 9.42pm on Saturday (19th August) to a report of a robbery at a newsagents in St John's Avenue, Sittingbourne.

A man entered the shop where he is then reported to have threatened a staff member before stealing a quantity of cash and alcohol. No injuries were reported.
