Appeal Following Inappropriate Behaviour In Park

Local Police investigating an incident involving inappropriate behaviour at a park in Sittingbourne are appealing to identify a man they wish to speak to.

A group of teenage girls were listening to music on a green between Amethyst Drive and The Meads Avenue at around 4pm on Thursday 17th April. They were approached by a man they did not know, who was described as being very unsteady on his feet.

Prison Sentence For "Dangerous Driving" Motorcyclist

A speeding motorcyclist who fatally collided with a man as he crossed a road has been jailed.

Andy Gilchrist was travelling along the A262 Tenterden Road in Biddenden on Sunday 18th September 2022 when the fatal collision happened.

The 27-year-old, from Sittingbourne, was riding his motorcycle towards Tenterden, when he collided with 72-year-old Christopher Smith, who had stepped off a bus and had begun to cross the road.

Witnesses are being sought after the fencing and pitches at a Sittingbourne Cricket Club were damaged earlier this week.

It was reported to Kent Police that at around 10pm on Monday (28th April), quad bikes and electric bicycles were being ridden onto the field at Gore Court Cricket Club on The Grove.

Damage was alleged to have occurred to four pitches at the cricket ground.

The bikes are believed to have entered the field from the Key Street area and left in the direction of Andrews Walk.

Swale residents are being reminded to be vigilant following multiple attempts to steal cash by criminals posing as police officers on the phone.

Between Monday (28th April) and Tuesday (29th April), Kent Police received 13 reports of attempted fraud in Sittingbourne and Faversham, with offenders claiming there had been criminal activity linked to victims’ bank accounts. The suspects then instructed them to withdraw large amounts of cash which would be collected by a courier, to assist the investigation.

Police Appeal - Assault And Damage To A Bus

CCTV images have been issued by officers investigating a report of an assault and criminal damage to a bus in Sittingbourne.

The incident happened as the vehicle was stationary at a set of traffic lights on London Road, at around 4.45pm on Tuesday (22nd April).

A suspect tried to get on the bus and, when the driver refused, it is alleged a window was smashed. The driver received multiple cuts from shards of glass. An investigation is underway and officers are issuing an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Constables ordered seven people to leave areas of Sittingbourne over the weekend during a dispersal order to tackle antisocial behaviour.

Patrols working on foot in the town targeted the small number of people whose disorderly behaviour causes concern for residents and local business owners. The order was in operation between Friday 28th and Sunday 30th March and allowed officers to instruct anyone causing a nuisance to immediately leave the area. Those who choose to return faced being arrested.

Kent Police investigators are renewing their appeal for witnesses following a serious collision on the A249 near Stockbury.

The incident happened at 10.05pm last Tuesday (25th February), when a silver Land Rover Discovery and a black BMW 1 series collided near the Chalky Road junction.

Officers attended the scene along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service and a passenger from the BMW, a man in his 30s, was flown to a London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a report of a serious assault in Sittingbourne in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 27th February).

Patrols were called to an injured man near Rectory Road shortly after midnight. Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where the victim, who is in his late teens, was treated for an injury consistent with a stab wound. He was taken by air ambulance to a London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A swift arrest by officers in Sittingbourne has led to a suspected burglar being charged.

Kent Police was called at 12.30am on Friday (21st February) to a report of a break-in at a business on the High Street, Milton Regis.

It was reported that a window was broken and items were taken from inside the premises before a man left the scene on foot.

Officers attended and shortly afterwards a man was detained.

A cash register was recovered following a search.

Another dispersal order is in place for two days, as Kent Police target those responsible for incidents of antisocial behaviour in Sittingbourne.

The enforcement started at 7.30pm last night (Tuesday 18th February) and has subsequently been extened to operate until 7.30pm on Saturday (22nd February) evening.

It encompasses the town centre including the A2, West Street, High Street, East Street, the Sittingbourne Retail Park, Eurolink Way, Mill Way and Albany Park.
