Witnesses Sought To Fatal A249 Collision

Officers are appealing for information following a fatal collision involving a car driver on the A249 near Stockbury earlier this morning (Monday 12th June).

The single-vehicle collision happened on the Sittingbourne-bound carriageway at around 4.25am and involved a silver Ford Fiesta.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

Local Kent Police officers are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in Stockbury.

The incident was reported to have happened at around 2.50pm on Saturday (13th May) afternoon on the A249 at the junction with Chalky Road.

During the incident the driver of a white van was in collision with the driver of a red, white and blue BMW S1000 motorbike.

The van did not remain at the scene and the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital.

Escaped Prisoner Jailed Following Police Pursuit

An escaped prisoner, who led officers on a police pursuit near Sittingbourne, has been jailed.

William Adams was handed a two-year and four-month prison sentence after admitting dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

He was additionally charged with being unlawfully at large after he absconded from a prison in Sussex on 14 July 2021. He was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday 27 January 2022.

Appeal Following Serious Collision At Stockbury

An appeal for witnesses has been issued by Kent Police following a serious collision near Sittingbourne earlier today (Friday 28th January).

At around 12.35pm a blue Ford Fiesta had left the Oad Street junction in Stockbury when it was involved in a collision with a white Ford Ranger travelling on the southbound carriageway of the A249 Sittingbourne Road, just past the Stockbury roundabout.

A woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to a London hospital.

Police Appeal Following Sheerness Disturbance

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to a disturbance on Christmas Day (Saturday 25th December) in Sheerness.

The incident happened in a car park near Trinity Road. At around 6.50am, it is alleged several people were involved in an altercation during which damage was caused to two cars.

Kent Police patrols attended the scene where those involved had left prior to their arrival. Following enquiries, a car was stopped by officers at junction 5 of the M2, at around 9.10am.

Grant Shapps, the Secretary of State for Transport, has approved Highways England's (HE) proposed improvements for the M2 junction 5 Stockbury Interchange following a public consultation.

Cousins Jailed After Arson Incident In Stockbury

Two cousins have received prison sentences following a violent disturbance at a private address near Stockbury earlier this year.

At 6.20am on Saturday 5th May, William Smith, aged 29, and 23-year-old Eli Smith, went to a static caravan in a yard off the A249 occupied by two men and two women who were known to them. They smashed the patio doors and started to cause damage inside the caravan, which was also destroyed by a fire during the incident. William Smith also drove a car into some parked Transit vans owned by the victims.

Standing Corn Fire In Stockbury

Approximately 10 acres of standing corn was destroyed by fire in fields adjacent to Fimbury Lane and Yelsted Lane, Stockbury near Sittingbourne last night (Sunday 15th July).

Kent Fire and Rescue Service's Emergency Control Centre coinfirmed that they had received a number of 999 calls reporting the fire.

Around 25 firefighters and six fire engines were initially sent to tackle the blaze and crews worked hard to bring it under control. They were successfully able to reduced the incident to four fire engines by 7.20pm and cleared the scene at around 9.00pm.

Local Woman Dies After A249 Crash Near Stockbury

Kent Police were called at 6.33am this morning (Tuesday 24th April) following a collision involving two cars on the Maidstone-bound carriageway of the A249 near Stockbury.

Police officers, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service all attended the scene and a woman in her 60's from the Sittingbourne area was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

Both carriageways were closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and were fully re-opened at 1.35pm this afternoon.

Three-Vehicle Crash Closes The A249

The A249 was closed for several hours earlier this afternoon (Wednesday 16th August) due to an accident involving two cars and a van on the Northbound (Sittingbourne/Sheppey) carriageway.

The accident happened shortly after 1.00pm and all emergency services attended the scene including the Kent Fire And Rescue Service (KFRS) who used hydrualic cutting gear on an overturned vehcile.
