Woman Arrested  On Suspicion Of Distraction Robbery

Kent Police have arrested a 25-year-old woman in connection with a distraction robbery in Sittingbourne.

The woman, who is from Sittingbourne, was arrested on Tuesday (31st October) on suspicion of robbery.

The incident happened at The Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop in the High Street, between 1.30pm and 2pm last Friday (27th October). A woman had just withdrawn £4,000 from her bank to buy a new car but noticed the cash was missing after another woman bumped into her, allegedly on purpose.

Appeal After Serious Collision In Church Milton

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage boy was seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Sittingbourne last night (Wednesday 25th october). 

The collision happened at the junction of Newman Drive and Puttney Drive and was between a silver Vauxhall Astra and the teenage pedestrian at around 5.25pm.

The boy sustained injuries to his head and shoulder and was air lifted to a London hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Man Charged With Robbery In Sittingbourne

Detectives investigating three robberies in Sittingbourne have charged a 24-year-old man in connection with one of the incidents.

Lawrence Heathfield, aged 24 and of Crown Quay Lane, Sittingbourne, has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The robbery relates to an incident in Bell Road just after midnight on Saturday 21st October where the victim, aged 21, reported being robbed of his phone and wallet by two men as he was walking home from a night out.

Police Appeal After Cyclist Hurt In Iwade

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was knocked off his bike by a car in Iwade earlier this month.

The incident happened at around 10.30pm on Friday 6th October 2017 on Basser Hill. The 17-year-old teenage boy was cycling up the hill when a 4x4 type vehicle is reported to have driven up the hill and clipped the cyclist's wheel resulting in him going over the bonnet of the vehicle and landing in a ditch.

A local 18-year-old football player is attracting Premier League interest in recent days.

Sittingbourne FC player Lex Allan, who lives on the Isle of Sheppey, is being tracked by top clubs Crystal Palace and Millwall.

Sittingbourne FC Secretary, John Pitts, told SFM News: "Lex is an excellent defender. He has such a great ability for his age"

Lex has also been attracting other rave reviews from the six matches that he has played for Sittingbourne.

Burglars Jailed For Wisdom Charity Shop Break In

Two burglars, who were caught on CCTV breaking into The Friends Of Wisdom Hospice's Charity shop in Sittingbourne have been jailed.

Lee Heathfield, aged 33 and Shane Baker, aged 28, entered the property in July stealing electronics and cash. Both were identified and arrested. Baker, of no fixed address, was jailed for 27 months and serial burglar Heathfield was jailed for fraud, theft and three other counts of burglary in Sittingbourne. His crimes were committed in June, July and August.

Man Appears In Court On Burglary Charges

A 25-year-old man has appeared in court after being charged with burglary.

George Patching, of no fixed address, appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (5th September) having been charged with three counts of burglary, one count of affray and one count of interfering with a motor vehicle.

The offences occurred in Sittingbourne, Faversham and Gillingham between Tuesday 4th July and Monday 4th September.

MP To Take On Assault Course Challenge

Local charity, Litter Angels, has registered a team of six people, including our local MP Gordon Henderson, to tackle an assault course challenge.

The team also includes Litter Angels trustees, Jess McMahon and Samantha Williams along volunteers Katherine Windsor, Gemma Bolton and Jenni Cawdell.

The challenge will be taking place on Sunday 8th October at Betteshanger Country Park near Deal and consists of over 20 different obstacles including tunnels, balance beams, water jumps and a tyre wall.

Kent Police officers, investigating a robbery at a newsagents, have released an image of a man who they would like to identify.

Kent Police were called at 9.42pm on Saturday (19th August) to a report of a robbery at a newsagents in St John's Avenue, Sittingbourne.

A man entered the shop where he is then reported to have threatened a staff member before stealing a quantity of cash and alcohol. No injuries were reported.
