Another Wet & Windy Weekend For The Sittingbourne Striders

Despite the windy weather, it did not stop Striders completing the Snake Lane 10 mile race in Pocklington. First Strider home was Guy Mills in a time of 1:29:10 and first strider female back was Talita Wigg in 1:48:58. (Other times: Barry Simmons 1:36:33, Pamela Farrell 1:50:08, Julie Sothall 1:51:10).

Yvonne Crawford completed the Trosley 10k which included 174 steps. She completed this challenge in a time of 1:24:34.

Kieran Conway travelled to Hampton Court to complete the half marathon race. He completed this in a time of 1:36:18.

The Sittingbourne Striders are proud to be hosting their annual Chas Ryman Memorial 10 Mile Road Race on Sunday 6th October. The race will set off from Highsted School and follow an undulating course that uses the picturesque country lanes surrounding Sittingbourne through Rodmersham Green and Kingsdown before returning to Highsted Valley through Bluetown. The race starts at 10:15 am and in addition to the main race there will also be a 2km fun run that starts at 9:30 am.

18 Striders took a trip to Rye to complete the Rye Ancient trail race

18 Striders took a trip to Rye to complete the Rye Ancient trail race. 12 Striders completed the 30k distance. Paul Williams was first Strider home in a time of 2:39:36 and was first in his age category. Vanessa Patching and Andy Patching also achieved prizes for being first in their category. 6 Striders completed the 15K distance with Emily Middleton being the first Strider home in a time of 1:58:20.

39 Striders, 9 Races And 5 PB's

The Sittingbourne Striders were out in force this weekend, with 39 runners taking place in 9 races across London and Kent. The most popular destination was the London Landmarks Half Marathon- a race that attracts nearly 13,000 runners and runs along the Thames taking in the popular sights throughout Westminster and the City. First strider home was Daniel Barnard in 1hr50mins40secs, and the first lady strider over the line was Amanda Claridge who gained a personal best and finished in 1hr59mins38secs.
