Brickies Director Dies Following Short Illness

Sittingbourne FC fans, staff and players have been left "devastated" this morning (Tuesday 16th July) following the sad news that long term Director Peter Pitts has died following a short illness.

SFM listeners will know Peter as "the voice of The Brickies" since we begun our full time transmissions in July 2012 and has been laterly joined by Mike Green in the role.

Peter joined Sittingbourne Football Club way back in the late 90's along with his twin brother, John, to assist the then Chairman, Andy Spice, to help rescue the club after it went into administration.

Sittingbourne FC and Borden Village FC have announced a formal link between the two clubs going forward.

The two club committees say they have been discussing the tie up for sometime and following changes at Borden Village felt that the time was now right to join forces. The tie up has begun with Sittingbourne FC helping Borden finalise a strong management team that will now include names familiar to stalwart Brickies fans.

Sittingbourne FC Manager Chris Lynch Resigns

Chris Lynch has today resigned as First team Manager of Sittingbourne FC.

He told the SFM Sports Team: "After a lot of consideration and with a heavy heart I have made the decision over night to step down from my role as manager of this great club with immediate effect".

This announcement comes after yet another home defeat last night to Sevenoaks Town (0-3).

Sittingbourne FC's Interim Manager Appointed

Aslan Odev, has been named caretaker boss at Sittingbourne FC following Nick Davis' resignation at the weekend.

A committee meeting on Monday (29th January) evening unanimously agreed to give Odev the chance to step up from his role as coach. Odev is a chief coach at Soccer Elite and will now be in charge for the first time when Sittingbourne visit South Park on Saturday (3rd February) and will be taking training on Thursday. It is expected that the majority of players will remain with the club and the other backroom staff have all stayed. 

Local Footballer attracts Premier League Attention

A local 18-year-old football player is attracting Premier League interest in recent days.

Sittingbourne FC player Lex Allan, who lives on the Isle of Sheppey, is being tracked by top clubs Crystal Palace and Millwall.

Sittingbourne FC Secretary, John Pitts, told SFM News: "Lex is an excellent defender. He has such a great ability for his age"

Lex has also been attracting other rave reviews from the six matches that he has played for Sittingbourne.

Sittingbourne FC Visit To Raise MECP2 Awareness

This Saturday (7th February) Sittingbourne FC will be welcoming Mark Lund to the home game at Woodstock Park against Walton & Hersham.

Mark is making the 400 mile trip to Sittingbourne FC to raise awareness for his son Alfie's life limiting disorder MECP2 Duplication Syndrome. Alfie is one of only a handful of children in the UK and approximately 120 in the world suffering from the syndrome.

Sittingbourne Footbal Club (SFC) had a stand at the Forum Shopping Centre's "New Year's Resolutions Day" on Saturday (10th January).

The idea behind the day was that Sittingbourne residents should consider new things to do in 2015 and there were numerous stalls in the centre showcasing local clubs, associations and charities.
