Fire Contained At Kemsley Paper Mill

Kent Fire and Rescue Service tackled a "large fire" at the paper mill in Ridham Avenue, Kemsley earlier this afternoon.

On arrival crews found a large amount of baled paper well alight and used two main jets, two flat fan sprays (ground monitor) and one hose reel jet to tackle the fire.

It's believed that a mechanical digger was also used to break up and move the paper stack.

There was a large amount of smoke in the area and local residents were urged to close their windows and doors as a precaution whilst the fire was being tackled earlier.

Crews Tackle Dutch Barn Fire In Tonge

Kent Fire & Rescue (KFRS) firefighters, from Sittingbourne fire station, were called earlier today to tackle a fire in a dutch barn in Tonge.

The KFRS we called shortly afrer 18:15hrs to the dutch barn, situated in Blacketts Road in Tonge, containing approximately 120 tonnes of bayled straw.

Major Fire At Sheerness Docks

Kent Fire and Rescue Services were called to a large fire in a warehouse at Sheerness Docks on Monday morning 14th January. At one stage fifty firefighters were at the scene backed up by two tug boats fighting the fire from the water.

South East Coast Ambulance Service were also at the scene and treated five people for smoke inhalation, two people were subsequently sent to hospital for further treatment.
