Rush Hour

It was yet another afternoon / early evening of "gridlock" in Sittingbourne again today (Tuesday 2nd July) due to the continuing closure of the Kingsferry Bridge.

The bridge remains closed, for essential maintenance work by Network Rail, until 5am on Sunday (7th July). This will also be the case across the weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July and then another full week's closure from Saturday 20th July until Saturday 27th July.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on Keycol Hill during yesterday (29th July) afternoon's rush hour.

A man riding a blue bicycle was involved in a collision with a white lorry on the A2 Key Street roundabout at the bottom of Keycol Hill at around 3.45pm.

The cyclist was flown by the Kent Air Ambulance to a London hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Emergency services tended to four casualties this morning, following an incident on the Isle Of Sheppey at The Kingsferry Bridge approach road, after the earlier closure of the Sheppey Crossing due to a vehicle fire.
