Fire Sweeps Through Bredgar Bungalow

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) were called to reports of a fire at a bungalow in Swanton Street, in Bredgar, yesterday (Saturday 1st January) afternoon.

Seven fire engines attended, shortly after 3:30pm, along with a bulk water carrier and a height vehicle. 

Crews wore breathing apparatus while using hose reel jets and fog spikes to extinguish the fire, which is believed to have started in the roof space of the property. 

No injuries were reported, however two adults suffered symptoms of suspected shock.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) were called to Wrens Road in Bredgar earlier today (Wednesday 18th May) to reports of an open sided barn, containing baled hay that was well alight.

Crews used compressed air foam (CAFs) to tackle the blaze, that uses less water than traditional firefighting methods and is more environmentally sensitive providing rapid fire knockdown.

MP Welcomes News Of Post Office Re-Opening

Gordon Henderson, Member of Parliament for Sittingbourne and Sheppey, has welcomed the news that post office services are finally being restored in Bredgar.

The village Post Office was closed in February following a burglary and had been set to re-open on Saturday (23rd May) but encountered some broadband connection problems. These have now been resolved and the Post Office will be re-opening from 9.15am tomorrow (Wednesday 27th May).

Rural Officers Offer Crime Prevention Advice

Dozens of Kent Police officers, PCSOs and council wardens joined forces for a special day of action to prevent and detect crime in the rural areas around Sittingbourne recently.

In the latest of Kent Police's 'Operation Nonagon' initiatives, Police and Kent County Council staff patrolled Faversham and many of the surrounding villages. In the course of their duties on Wednesday 23rd July the team apprehended suspected burglars, seized suspected stolen property and issued crime prevention advice to local residents.
