Prolific Thief Jailed After Assaulting Police

A prolific shoplifter, who assaulted three police officers, has been jailed just a day after he was arrested in Sittingbourne.

Albert Ramsden repeatedly stole groceries from a Co-op in Forbes Road, Faversham during a spate of offences between Wednesday 8th March and Sunday 12th March. On Wednesday (15th March) police officers detained Ramsden in Bell Road, Sittingbourne. During the arrest he assaulted three officers, by kicking, elbowing and also attempting to bite the constables.

Three Vehicle Collision Closes M2 Motorway

Firefighters helped to release a man who was trapped in a van following a crash involving a car and two vans on the coast-bound carriageway of the M2 earlier today.

The collision happened just before Junction 5 for the A249 and Sittingbourne at around 9:15am.

Crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to free the man, who was then passed into the care of the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Three Arrested After Animal Deaths At School Farm

Three boys have been arrested after the attack on animals at the Westlands Secondary School over the Christmas period.

Following enquiries officers arrested a 12-year-old, a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old, all from the Sittingbourne area, on suspicion of causing criminal damage and animal cruelty.

They have since been released pending further investigations.
