Two Arrests After 'Bin Men' High Street Brawl

A disturbance in Chatham High Street has led to two men being arrested, one of which is from the Sittingbourne area.

Last Wednesday (4th August) investigating officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Sittingbourne on suspicion of affray. He was additionally arrested for two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

A second man, aged 28 and from the Gillingham area, was arrested on suspicion of affray on Thursday 5th August.

Witness Appeal Following 'Suspicious' House Fire

Local detectives are investigating a fire at a house in Sittingbourne and appealing for witnesses.

At about 10.40pm on Sunday 1st August, it is believed the front door of the property in Frederick Street had been set alight. No-one was in the house at the time, but the door, the porch and a large amount of belongings were destroyed.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Dispersal Order In Murston And Great Easthall Issued

Individuals involved in anti-social behaviour are the target of a Kent Police dispersal order, which is being enforced in the Murston and Great Easthall areas of town.

Across July and the beginning of August, Police have received reports of young people verbally abusing members of the public and shop staff in the Murston Road, Church Road and Harkness Court areas.

It is also reported that teenagers have been seen poorly riding quadbikes and mopeds, in addition to swimming in a lake off Mulberry Way.

Road Safety Campaign Targets Speeding Motorists

Speeding motorists will be targeted by Kent Police as part of a two week national campaign aimed at reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured on the roads.

Between Monday 26th July and Sunday 8th August 2021, Kent Police and other forces across the country will be supporting an operation led by the National Police Chiefs’ Council to educate and enforce the law against those who speed and place other road users at risk.

Appeal Following A Serious Assault In Sittingbourne

Witnesses are being sought following a serious assault of a young woman in Sittingbourne earlier today (Thursday 22nd July).

Kent Police were called shortly before 8:00am this morning to Highsted Road in Sittingbourne, to a report that the victim had suffered injuries.

Officers are currently at the scene and the young woman has been taken to a London hospital for treatment. Her condition is described as serious.

Nuisance and abusive behaviour are the focus of a week-long campaign which is being supported by The Swale Community Safety Partnership and Kent Police.

Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week runs from today (Monday 19th July) through to Sunday (25th July) and has been organised by Resolve, a national agency which specialises in community safety.

Witnesses Sought Following Fatal Collision

Kent Police's Serious Collision Unit investigators are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist died in Sittingbourne last night (Wednesday 12th May).

The fatal road collision happened at around 9.44pm on Swale Way when a Honda CBR1000 motorbike collided with a blue Citroen C4 Picasso.

The driver of the motorbike, a 26-year-old man from Whitstable, was riding along the road when the two vehicles collided near the entrance of Milton Creek fishing lakes and Swale Way.

County Line Drug Dealer From Sittingbourne Jailed

A drug dealer who supplied class A substances in Chatham has been jailed for three years and nine months.

Christopher Tregunno supplied heroin and crack cocaine on behalf of a county line named ‘Trigger’ and was twice arrested by Kent Police officers in 2020. 

The 30-year-old, of Tonge Road in Sittingbourne, admitted four drug supply offences and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday (9th March).

Police Specials Tackle Road Safety In Sittingbourne

Volunteers from Kent Police's Special Constabulary have taken part in a road safety initiative to help keep motorists safe here in Sittingbourne.

Last Saturday (27th February) a total of three Special Inspectors, three Special Sergeants and seven Special Constables dealt with issues including drivers not wearing seatbelts, speeding and lack of insurance in a targeted operation in the Mill Way area.
