Van

A Sittingbourne-bound train collided with a van on a level crossing near Lower Road in Teynham earlier this afternoon (Sunday 13th July), resulting in the death of the driver.

Emergency Services were alerted shortly after 12.45pm today and it is believed a South Eastern Service collided with the van on the level crossing at high speed resulting in the vehicle bursting in to flames a rolling down the trackside bank near the crossing.

There have been long delays on the M2 motorway at Junction 5 (Sittingbourne) this afternoon, after a broken down van caught fire.

Traffic on the London-bound carriageway was held just after the Stockbury roundabout to allow emergency services to get to the scene and deal with the blaze.

The road was closed for around an hour causing long delays. No injuries have been reported.

An elderly man has been injured following an accident with a Royal Mail van outside the Sittingbourne Sorting Office on Central Avenue earlier today (Friday 30th January) .

Police were called to the incident shortly after midday and an Ambulance and Paramedic Team also attended the scene.
