The Fens by Rail, Steam and Sail

Join Sittingbourne Heritage Museum and the Historical Research Group for The Fens by Rail, Steam and Sail, a presentation by Robert Poole. The Fens were once an isolated, mysterious area inhabited by ‘Fen Slodgers', ‘Black Shuck' and the ‘Witch Finder General', and were rich in wildlife and fisheries. You will learn about ‘Wherries', ‘Fen gangs' and Thames barges and hear tales of rival railways, a tramway and the WWII bomber airfields. Entrance is £3 to non-members and £1 to members (Proof of membership is required).
