Raybel Charter's Open Day

When:
Saturday, 11 May, 2024 - 11:00 to 15:00
Where:
Lloyd's Wharf, The Wall, Sittingbourne ME10 2XD

Description

This next open day will be a milestone as they reintroduce the historic Thames barge back to the water in Sittingbourne, where she was originally built back in 1920. They haven’t quite finished yet with some interior and rigging work yet to be done, but they are certainly on the home straight. Alongside the barge tours, they will have a restoration exhibition, which dives into the restoration timeline and major works completed up to now. Some edible delights are on offer too … they will be firing up our outdoor cob pizza oven where you can sample some vegan pizza using locally sourced and grown ingredients. They’ve also got tdelicious coffee and French cakes for sale too. They are also kick-starting their community bird hide design + build project! If you want to get creative and learn more about sustainable construction, they are running a series of construction workshops to build a new low-impact bird hide at Lloyd’s Wharf. They’ll be running two design workshops on this open day, inspired by bird sounds and bird silhouettes, which will inspire the final hide design.
