Tough race for the Sittingbourne Striders at Lydd 20 Mile

Lydd 20 Mile Race

The Sittingbourne Striders braved the 50mph winds to take part in the Lydd 20 mile race on Sunday, a fast and flat course popular with those training for the Spring marathon season, and the third race in the Striders Club Championship.

Lee Simpson was the first Strider over the line in 2hrs21mins50secs, finishing 42nd overall. Bragging rights for the first lady Strider home went to Alison Davey, who finished in 3hrs18min45secs

Lydd Half Marathon

Rebecca Still led a small group of Striders around the shorter but just as windy Lydd Half Marathon in 2hrs0mins22secs, just in front of Martin Stevens (2hrs1mins3secs), Amanda Claridge (2hrs4mins5secs) and Alex Powell (2hrs5mins9secs).

Maidstone Half Marathon

A trio of striders took part in the Maidstone Half Marathon, Ceri Burr was first home at 1hr45min50secs, beating clubmate Darren Billing who came in at 1hr48min31secs. Caroline Lewis was the only lady Strider finishing in 1hr51min47secs. Finally, Gareth Lewis was the sole strider to take part in the Maidstone 10k in an impressive 40mins20secs
