Fire Crews Tackle Town Centre Blaze

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire in a yard off High Street, Sittingbourne.

A call was received at 8:40 pm this evening (Thursday 11th April) and three fire engines were sent to the scene, and crews used hose reel jets and a main jet to extinguish a fire involving mattresses and hedges.

It;s believe the affected area is close to the Albany Road Car Park near the rear of the Sittingbourne Baptist Church on the High Street. 

No injuries have been reported, and the cause is not yet known.

A dispersal order is in place to tackle anti-social behaviour in central Sittingbourne.

It started at 2pm yesterday (Thursday 25th May) and will remain in place until 2pm on Sunday (28th May), covering Sittingbourne Retail Park as well as the High Street area.

The order has been implemented due to an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour in the district at weekends. It allows officers to stop anyone involved in disorderly behaviour and move them on from the area.

There will be an increased police presence in town this weekend following a recent rise in reports of nuisance behaviour in Sittingbourne.

A 48-hour dispersal order, under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime, and Policing Act 2014, will commenced at 4pm today (Friday 17th March) and remain in place until 8pm tomorrow (Saturday 18th March) evening.

Dispersal Order Issued To Tackle Nuisance Vehicles

A dispersal order will be in place over the weekend to tackle nuisance vehicles in a rural area of Sittingbourne.

It will operate from 7pm tonight (Friday 24th February) until 7pm on Sunday (26th February) and covers Sheppey Way, Old Ferry Road, Swale Way and Barge Way near Kemsley Fields.

The order is being implemented by Kent Police due to an increase in reports of nuisance vehicles and dangerous driving in the district at weekends. It allows officers to stop anyone involved in anti-social behaviour and move them on from the area.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) are issuing important electrical safety advice following a property fire in Sittingbourne.

Three fire engines were sent to the incident on Westmoreland Drive earlier today (Saturday 9th April) and crews arrived to flames from an upstairs bedroom.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called earlier today (Monday 3rd August) to field of corn stubble and straw alight off of Bottom Pond Road, Wormshill, just outside Sittingbourne.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene and crews used hose reel jets, beaters and water from portable tanks (called flexi packs) to put the fire out.

There were no reported casualties and the cause is not yet known.

Fire Crews Tackle Upchurch Co-op Blaze

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to The Street in Upchurch shortly after 10.00pm last n ight (Monday 29th April), to reports of a fire in the Co-op supermarket.

Four fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets and water from a hydrant to extinguish the fire on the ground floor.

People living in accommodation above the shop had to be evacuated the building.

There were no reported injuries and the cause is being investigated.

Firefighters Tackle 300 Tonnes Of Hay Bales On Fire

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) dealt with a fire involving approximately 300 tonnes of baled hay in Matts Hill Road, Hartlip earlier today (Wednesday 26th October).

Three fire engines and a bulk water carrier were sent to the scene. Fire crews used two main jets and a hose reel to prevent the fire spreading to surrounding shrubbery.

Firefighters Tackle Bredgar Barn Fire

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) were called to Wrens Road in Bredgar earlier today (Wednesday 18th May) to reports of an open sided barn, containing baled hay that was well alight.

Crews used compressed air foam (CAFs) to tackle the blaze, that uses less water than traditional firefighting methods and is more environmentally sensitive providing rapid fire knockdown.
