A-Level And B-Tec Results Day Locally

From 8 o'clock this morning (Thursday 13th August) local year 13 pupils have been celebrating after achieving some of the best A-level results in the country.

At The Sittingbourne School (TSS) Sixth Form Vestas Arlauskas achieved an A* in A level maths and Distinction * in both BTEC Computing and Business. Vestas is will now be off to Loughborough University to study Computer Science.

Maddie Woods came out with a grade A in Biology, a Distinction in Business Studies and grade Bs both in Maths and Biology. Maddie is off to Harper & Keele Veterinary School to start her training to become a vet.

Maisie Lee gained a grade A in Criminology and a double Distinction * in Business Studies and will shortly be starting an apprenticeship with an accountancy firm. Corey Hayes achieved a Distinction in the brand new T-Level Engineering course at the school. He is about to start an apprenticeship at Mercedes-Benz UK.

Over at Borden Grammar fifteen students achieved at least three A grades across their three or four subjects. Of these students, there were seven very top performers. Overall, students achieved really strong grades with 28% achieving the very highest grades and 53% of all grades being awarded at A*- B.

Borden Grammar told SFM News: "These results have allowed our students to successfully move on to the next stage of their education or careers. This year, our students have successfully secured places at top universities including Durham, Bristol, Queens Belfast, Edinburgh, Nottingham as well as more locally at Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Other students have secured apprenticeship and degree apprenticeship opportunities at local companies as well as blue chip companies in London including KPMG.

We are very proud of the success of our students and wish all of them the very best of luck as they move on from Borden to change the world for the better."

Nationally the proportion of A* grades achieved by A-level students in England has risen by 3.2 per cent in a year, with regional and gender gaps widening. This year 9.7% of grades were A*, up from 9.4% in 2025, data published by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) shows.

Overall, the proportion of top grades also rose. This year 28.7% of grades were an A or A*, up from 28.2% last year.

These figures have been climbing since 2023, when grading was adjusted to bring results nearer to pre-pandemic norms.
