When:
Wednesday, 13 February, 2019 - 19:00
Where:
The Committee Room, Swale House, East Street, Sittingbourne ME10 3HT

Description

Swale Borough Council is encouraging local people to think about whether they would like to apply to be a councillor in the local elections being held on Thursday 2nd May. A councillor's role and responsibilities include: representing their ward, engaging with residents about issues that concern their area, decision-making, developing and reviewing council policy, scrutinising decisions taken by borough councillors, regulatory and statutory duties and community leadership and engagement. The event will be informal, interactive and will give attendees a chance to speak directly to the Chief Executive Mark Radford about the role of councillors, to learn about how to apply to be a councillor, and to hear first-hand from a councillor about what it is like to be a councillor. If you would like to attend the event, or want more information about becoming a councillor, please email: DemocraticServices@swale.gov.uk.
