Description

Led by Peter Barton, he will show and talk you through the great battlefields of the First World War as you have never seen them before, from the first cavalry skirmishes, through the horrors of the Somme and Passchendaele, to the final weeks of conflict. A unique collection of photographs covering the whole of the British sectors of the Western Front, end to end. The vast battlescapes are interspersed with poignant individual photographs and the recollections of the soldiers caught in the action.

Peter lives in Faversham, is a British military historian, author and filmmaker, who specialises in trench warfare. The Historical Research Group of Sittingbourne and the Sittingbourne War Memorials Project team present this talk as part of the Swale Borough Council, WW1 centenary commemorations. Tickets are £5 on Eventbrite and proceeds go towards local WW1 2018-2019 centenary peace events.
