SFM is run by an independent group of radio professionals who have been campaigning since 2001 to see the Sittingbourne area of Kent granted its own full-time local community radio station.

In February 2010, the broadcasting regulator Ofcom announced SFM would be handed a full-time licence, meaning we will shortly be broadcasting to Sittingbourne 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

SFM's last FM broadcast took place in the summer of 2006, and since then we've been touched by the level of support local businesses, politicians and, most importantly, members of the public have given our campaign.
